We had a collie with hip dysplacia (sp???) and she would do that all the time with hot spots on her hips. It was horrible and gross. We would put creams on them (usually any creams for humans are Ok for dogs) and try to discourage her from licking and it would work sometimes but not at others. Ask a vet is there is anything that may taste bad but not burn the skin.

I used a cream called trilastin I used it on 10 year old stretch marks and it worked very well I started seeing a difference in a week my skin looked hesalthier and stretch marks looked better. I think if it helped mine it should definetly help you this early on. it cost 80 dollars at dermstore.com
We are having the same problem and were told to use "Gypsum" (sp?) which you can find Home Depot. Spread it on the grass as you would fertilizer to prevent the spots, and sprinkle a handful directly on the current spots. Good luck!

Ummm a 5.5 for that? Anything less than a 5.7 on both marks is low – IMHO.
